We survived Hurricane Ike!

Anna and I headed to Lufkin on Thursday and Chris came up on Friday. We thought that we'd be better off in Lufkin, but once those winds started, we weren't so sure with all the trees my parents have! Anyway...Friday night we turned the air down really low to get the house as cool as possible. We swaddled Anna up with 2 blankets and put a little cap on her head so she wouldn't get too cold.
The next morning, Todd and Karah came over after they called and I told them a fireman was at the door because a tree had pulled the electric meter off of the house. They could tell we were frantic and thought they'd wait out the storm with us...We cleaned out the cedar closet and pulled some twin mattress in the hallway.Todd and Chris kept wanting to check everything out and they just couldn't sit still. Here they are being silly in their "hurricane hats" that came out of the cedar closet:
After the storm, we were very thankful that everyone was safe. We only had to go 2 nights without electricity and we got a generator for the 2nd night. During the day, I didn't want Anna to get too hot so I just let her go in her diaper:
We are all safe and sound and enjoying our stay at GiGi and Pops' while we're waiting for our electricity to come back!
